Yes, it starts on a Friday and goes through a Tuesday. This makes it easier on the churches to find male sponsors so that they will not need to take as many vacation days.
What ages can attend Camp Change?
Camp Change is for those who have completed third through sixth grades.
Where will Camp Change be held this summer?
Camp Change (June 12-16, 2009; Friday-Tuesday) will be at Riverbend Retreat Center, which is located in Glen Rose, TX. You can look at there facilities by going to www.riverbendretreat.org.
What is the theme for the summer?
The theme for Camp Change this summer is "It Ain't Make Believe". The theme verse is John 14:6: "I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life".
What is the theme and direction of the Bible studies?
The Bible studies will focus on how Jesus is the only true hero, and how the Bible "ain't make believe".
Changes Ministries believes that all curriculum taught to the students must adhere to a Biblical Worldview, which consists of: a) love the Lord, your God with all your heart, soul, mind and strength, b) love your neighbor as yourself, c) there is only one true God, d) saved by grace and not by works, e) existence of heaven, the devil, evil and Hell, and f) responsible to spread the word of God.
Who teaches the Bible studies?
The different church groups are responsible to teach the lessons to their students. The curriculum will be mailed to the churches starting in April.
What is Camp Live?
Camp Live is a time for the students to come and get involved with Improv skits, watch crazy skits, sing fun camp songs, and sing Christian songs with DVDs that reinforce the power of God’s words and works. This is an energy filled time the students will not want to miss.
What should I expect during worship?
Expect a spirit filled atmosphere. The Leaders of the camp are praying right now for God to move during Camp Change, especially during the worship time
Chris Gibson will lead the camp in both familiar and new praise songs. The camp pastor, Aarron Schwartz, will deliver a message that is focused around scripture, not popular opinion. The music and message will last approximately one hour. It is not necessary to wear dress clothes to worship.
How do my students sign up for Interest Groups (Track Times)?
The students may sign up for the different interest groups during Camp Live. The separation of the grades allows for fast and administratively friendly sign up.
What interest groups might be available at Camp Change?
crafts, basketball, football, drama, cheerleading/dance, soccer, water sports, cooking, volleyball, camping skills, balloon modelling, magic, and others as workers are recruited
Do the students keep the same interest groups the entire week?
No. The students may sign up for different interest groups every day.
How do sponsors keep up with their different students while they are at interest groups?
Sponsors are responsible to record which interest group their students sign up for.
What is available during free time?
Zip Line, The Blob, Ice Berg Mountains (inflatable climbing waters located in the lake), Paddle Boats and Frisbee Golf.
What is expected of a sponsor?
It is the camp’s leadership’s desire, and we also believe that it is God’s desire, for the sponsors to focus on their students. The schedule allows freedom to minister to students individually at their different interest groups, while also allowing them to minister to the group corporately during Bible studies and church devotional times.
Sponsors are also asked to help cheer the campers on during recreation.
Sponsors are also expected to decide who will teach the Bible studies to their students during the allotted time.
We also expect sponsors to be out and about watching their kids, and not in the dorm sleeping or talking with other sponsors while their kids are unsupervised.
Is there a swimming pool?
Yes! There are two pools in the swimming area. One pool has a diving board with extra playing area. The other pool has three water park slides with extra playing area.
What is Nite Life?
Nite Life is a nightly camp wide fellowship.
Following is an example of what has been done in previous years. It in no way means that is what will be done this year. Possibilities are a Christian Illusionist, a Counselor Hunt, a Scavenger Hunt, Game Show, and many other ideas
